The American Campaign Medal was established in 1942 to recognize U.S. Armed Forces personnel who served in the American Theater during World War II between December 7, 1941, and March 2, 1946. It honors contributions to the defense and security of the United States during this critical period.
Measuring 1-1/4 inches in diameter and 3 inches in overall height, this medal features a pinback design for secure attachment. The obverse side depicts a ship, aircraft, and tank, symbolizing the combined efforts of the Navy, Air Force, and Army. The reverse side includes the inscription "AMERICAN CAMPAIGN" and space for engraving.
The ribbon incorporates blue, white, and red stripes, representing the national colors and the unity of the armed forces.
They had this glued to a display, I used hair dryer to remove it, the clasp is in working order, but you will probably want to heat some more of this glue residue off the clasp. View Last Photo for detailed view.
