The 1945 Army of Occupation Service Medal honors U.S. Armed Forces personnel who served in occupied territories following World War II. Measuring 1-1/4 inches in diameter and 3 inches in overall height, this medal features a pinback design for secure attachment.
The obverse side displays the Remagen Bridge abutments, symbolizing the occupation of Germany, with the inscription "ARMY OF OCCUPATION" above. The reverse side features Mount Fuji, a cloud, and two Japanese junks above a wave scroll, representing the occupation of Japan. A bronze clasp with the word "GERMANY" or "JAPAN" is worn on the ribbon to indicate the theater of service.
The ribbon includes white, black, and scarlet stripes, reflecting the medal's significance and the unity of effort during the occupation period.
