This original 1952 U.S. Air Force life raft paddle assembly includes a reflective signal surface for night rescue operations. Measuring approximately 14" long by 3-1/4" wide, each paddle features printed instructions and a reflective blade side designed to catch searchlight beams. Issued during the Korean War era, these paddles were part of escape and evasion kits for downed pilots and aircrew. Markings include DWG. 45D18813 and manufacturer stamp Vanderman Mfg. Co.
