Commemorative U.S. postage stamp issued in 1959 as part of the “Champions of Liberty” series, honoring Ernst Reuter (1889–1953), Mayor of Berlin during the early Cold War. Reuter was a key figure in resisting Soviet pressure and unifying the western sectors of Berlin, notably during the Berlin Airlift. The stamp features a gold medallion-style portrait encircled by laurel branches and a torch, with red text and an 8¢ denomination. Lightly mounted with stamp hinge tape, removable without damage. No gum disturbance unless noted.
