Commemorative U.S. postage stamp issued in 1960 to honor the Southeast Asia Treaty Organization (SEATO), a Cold War-era alliance formed to prevent communist expansion in Southeast Asia. Timed to coincide with SEATO’s sixth annual conference held in Washington, D.C., from May 31 to June 3, 1960, the stamp features the SEATO emblem—a globe and laurel branch—alongside the words “Unity, Peace, Progress.” Lightly mounted with stamp hinge tape, removable without damage.
