Commemorative U.S. postage stamp issued July 4, 1960, marking the official adoption of the 50-star American flag following Hawaii’s admission as the 50th state in 1959. This was the first U.S. stamp to depict the updated flag design. The stamp features a stylized flag flying on a pole, with “July 4, 1960” printed vertically to signify the date new stars are added by law. Lightly mounted with stamp hinge tape, removable without damage. No gum disturbance unless noted.
