Commemorative U.S. postage stamp issued October 8, 1960, as part of the “Champions of Liberty” series, honoring Ignacy Jan Paderewski (1860–1941), renowned Polish statesman, pianist, and composer. Paderewski was a key figure in Poland’s independence movement and served as Prime Minister in 1919. The stamp features his portrait encircled by his name and birth/death years, with a torch and olive branch symbolizing peace and freedom. Printed in blue using the recess method.
