The Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal is awarded to enlisted members of the U.S. Air Force Reserve for exemplary behavior, efficiency, and fidelity during a sustained period of service. Established on April 1, 1964, it was initially a ribbon bar and later amended to include the medal on May 1, 1973.
Measuring 1-7/16 inches in diameter and 3 inches in overall height, this medal features a pinback design for secure attachment. The obverse side displays an American eagle with wings outstretched, perched on a circle containing a five-pointed star. Above the eagle is a banner inscribed "Meritorious Service," surrounded by the words "Air Reserve Forces" and stylized delta wing shapes. The reverse side includes a cloud design with the Air Force Coat of Arms, thunderbolts, and the inscription "Exemplary Behavior - Efficiency - Fidelity".
