American Defense Ribbon 1-3/8" x 3/8"

The American Defense Service Ribbon, measuring 1-3/8 inches by 3/8 inches, was awarded to U.S. military personnel who served honorably on active duty between September 8, 1939, and December 7, 1941. This ribbon was established by Executive Order 8808, signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on June 28, 1941, to recognize service during the pre-World War II period of national emergency.

The ribbon features a golden yellow background with blue, white, and red stripes near the edges, symbolizing readiness and defense. Additional devices, such as the "Foreign Service Clasp," were authorized for those who served outside the continental United States during this period.
