Established in 1981, this ribbon recognizes the progression of leadership and professional skills essential for advancing in rank and responsibilities.
The ribbon's design features a central blue stripe, symbolizing support for the United States, flanked by yellow and green stripes that represent the chevrons worn by NCOs. Numerals are added to the ribbon to indicate the highest level of professional development courses completed, such as the Basic Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, or Senior Leader Course.
