The Inter-American Defense Board Medal (IADB-MDL) is an international decoration presented by the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB) to any military officer who completes a tour of service with the IADB while serving within a member nation of the Organization of American States. Military personnel who finish instructor tours at the Inter-American Defense College or serve on staff for the IADB Chairman or Secretariat are also eligible for this award. Service Stars or bars are awarded to denote the number of years served. A silver star or bar indicates one year of service, a gold star or bar indicates two years, two gold stars or bars indicates three to five years and three gold stars indicates greater than five years service with the IADB
