The Selected Marine Corps Reserve (SMCR) Medal is a decoration presented by the U.S. military to recognize members of the Marine Corps Reserve who have met specific service requirements as of July 1, 1925. To be eligible for this medal, service personnel must have attended with an SMCR unit at least 90% of all scheduled drills in a year for three consecutive years, including duty in an Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA) billet in Training Category A. Prior to April 24, 1961, 80% attendance at all scheduled drills was required to be eligible for the medal. Service Members may also be eligible if they attend an IMA billet in Training Category A for three consecutive field training periods. Active Duty for training may be authorized to be performed in replacement of regular annual field training periods.
