The medal was previously affixed to a display and was carefully removed using hair dryer heat. Some adhesive residue may remain. All photographs provided are original and taken by our staff.
Purpose: To recognize service in the occupation of territories of former enemies of the United States during and following World War II.
Eligibility: Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard personnel.
The medal recognized service in Europe, Asia, and later, West Berlin between 1945 and 1990.
For service in the European occupation, personnel needed to have served in the occupation forces in Europe.
For service in the Asian occupation, personnel needed to have served in the occupation forces in Asia.
For service in West Berlin, personnel needed to have served on permanent or temporary duty while assigned or attached to a unit participating in the Berlin Airlift between June 26, 1948, and September 30, 1949.
