Used pair of 3¢ Statue of Liberty stamps issued April 9, 1954 as the first Liberty Series design and the first U.S. stamp to feature the motto “In God We Trust.” Deep violet portrait shows the Statue of Liberty surrounded by a halo of light, symbolizing freedom. This issue replaced the long‑running Presidential (“Prexie”) series and became one of the most widely used stamps of the 1950s. Both stamps remain attached as a clean canceled pair. Identified as Scott No. 1035.
