The U.S. Navy Good Conduct Medal is awarded to enlisted Navy personnel who demonstrate three years of honorable and faithful service. Established on April 26, 1869, it is one of the oldest military decorations still in use.
Measuring 1-5/16 inches in diameter and 3 inches in overall height, this medal features a pinback design for secure attachment. The obverse side displays a bronze medallion with an eagle perched on a fouled anchor, encircled by the inscription "FIDELITY ZEAL OBEDIENCE," symbolizing the core values of the Navy. The reverse side is often blank, allowing space for engraving the recipient's name or service details.
The ribbon is scarlet red, representing valor and sacrifice.
Note: They had glued this to a display and I heated most of the glue off, but the pinback does appear to be damaged on this and not close properly.
