The Philippine Independence Medal was established on July 4, 1946, to commemorate the independence of the Philippines and recognize U.S. military personnel who served in the Philippines during World War II. This medal honors those who contributed to the liberation and defense of the Philippines.
Measuring 1-1/2 inches in diameter and 3-3/8 inches in overall height, this medal features a pinback design for secure attachment. The obverse side displays a bronze medallion with the inscription "PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE" encircled by a laurel wreath, symbolizing victory and freedom. The reverse side includes space for engraving the recipient's name or service details.
The ribbon incorporates red, white, and blue stripes, reflecting the shared values and unity between the United States and the Philippines.
Note: They had glued this to a display and I heated most of the glue off, but the pinback does appear to be damaged on this and not close properly. See Details on last photo.
