Served 39 months in the Pacific and Indian Oceans during WWII.
Helped commission a mobile hospital unit in New Caledonia.
Served 744 days aboard the USS Dunlap, a destroyer.
Earned five bronze campaign stars.
Discharged in 1945 as a Chief Pharmacist’s Mate.
Re‑enlisted in 1946; later commissioned in the Medical Service Corps.
Retired as a Commander, one of the few to have served as both Chief and Commander.
Retired from the Naval Reserve on his 60th birthday in July 1982.
