With the specific phone number 01-387-4400 and its proximity to the railway station, this iconic 1970s hotel was widely popular for British Rail "Mini Weekend Breaks" into the capital and featured a well-known basement restaurant.

The building itself went through structural changes over the subsequent decades:
• The Thistle Euston: The property was later rebranded and operated as the 4-star Thistle Euston Hotel.
• Permanent Closure: The entire hotel was permanently closed on October 4, 2019.
