Key Characteristics & Sourcing
Format & Style:
Measuring 38"W × 13½"H, this ultra‑wide panoramic aspect ratio was a highly popular home décor trend during the late 1970s and 1980s. These long, low‑profile prints were designed to hang above sofas, long headboards, hallway credenzas, or office reception areas.
Framing:
The thin metallic gold metal frame paired with an acrylic (plexiglass) protective face is characteristic of mass‑marketed gallery art from that era. Pieces like this were commonly sold through major home goods retailers, catalog showrooms, and dedicated frame shops throughout the late 70s and 80s.
Scene:
The print depicts a tranquil autumn river flowing through a forest of richly colored foliage. While not tied to a specific landmark, this style of photography was widely used to represent iconic American mountain regions during fall.
Market Value & Collector Appeal
Financial Value:
On the secondary vintage market — including Facebook Marketplace, antique shops, and retro décor sellers — pieces of this type typically trade between $25 and $45.
Aesthetic Appeal:
Although not a high‑end investment artwork, these thin‑frame panoramic prints have strong appeal among collectors of retro mid‑century modern décor, 1980s cabin‑core interiors, and warm, earthy wall art. The nostalgic framing style and autumn palette make it a versatile decorative piece.
