Original 1986 historical documentary print titled “Enlarging Liberty’s Hand in Plaster, 1876–81.” This vintage black‑and‑white photograph shows artisans inside the Paris workshop of Gaget, Gauthier and Co. constructing the wooden armature slats and plaster molds used to scale up the Statue of Liberty’s left hand. Published for the Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island Centennial educational portfolio. Lower margin text notes: “The Paris workshop of Gaget, Gauthier and Co.; the sculptor Bartholdi is second from right.” Credited to the Rare Books and Manuscripts Division, The New York Public Library, Astor, Lenox and Tilden Foundations.
