The medal's design features the figure of Liberty standing confidently, holding a broken sword, symbolizing victory over tyranny. The reverse side bears the inscription "Freedom from Fear and Want" alongside "Freedom of Speech and Religion," surrounded by the dates "1941-1945." The ribbon is red, with rainbow-like stripes at the edges, symbolizing hope and peace.
