Vintage United States Ninth Army shoulder sleeve insignia from World War II. The design features a red nine‑sided figure representing the unit’s numerical designation, with a white embroidered “A” at the center. The Ninth Army was organized in 1944 and served in the European Theater, including operations leading to the crossing of the Elbe River.
Patch measures 2‑3/8 inches by 2‑3/8 inches and is a sew‑on style. These examples do not appear to have ever been sewn, and based on their aged fabric and construction, they present as old‑new‑stock WWII‑era items.
Sourced from an Army Navy Surplus Store.
